摘要: Testing and evaluating learning process of student are very important. They help schools know thoroughly students’ ability and their learning results. Therefore, schools can bring out effective management methods. Besides, teachers can adjust their teaching methods, forms of testing and evaluation and students can find out their best learning styles. A lot of universities in Vietnam in general and HUI (Ho Chi Minh University of Industry) in particular have been applying some ways to test and evaluate students’ learning. This thesis just did a research of some basic forms of examination and evaluation such as multiple-choice test, written test and integrated test in order to point out good points and weak points of each form. Hence, it suggests the most suitable and effective forms of testing and evaluation. After conducting a research of teachers and students from three faculties at HUI including Faculty of Food and Biology, Business Administration Faculty, and Faculty of Political Theory Education, collected data were processed by SPSS software and the analyzed results are decribed as follows. Objective multiple-choice test puts forth many good points and weak points. Particularly, it is able to examine many parts of knowledge in the curriculum. It also restricts wrong learning tendency among students such as focusing only on a subject or a particular field of knowledge and reduces the number of students using materials in exam rooms. Besides, it provides enough time to mark exams quickly, correctly, and objectively. Good questions can be kept in “question banks” in order to be used repeatedly so that we can reduce the cost of composing exam questions. However, it also has some weak points. For example, it takes much time and money in organizing exams, mobilizes a large number of classrooms to ensure that exams are held seriously. In addition, it is difficult and costly to design effective exam questions. Moreover, it can not assess all skills such as argument thinking, essay writing, creation in learning literature and mathematics. Written test also has advantages and disadvantages. Any question in a written test requires students themselves to bring their own answer out, and then to express their own ideas in writing. When using this form, students are free to express their personal thinking. However, the weakness is that its quality relies mainly on examiners’ skills. It is not so difficult to compose written tests. However, it is hard to mark them. Furthermore, it takes more time for thinking and expressing ideas. In the other hand, integrated test has its own good points and weak points. It provides a chance to prove all advantages and restrict disadvantages of multiple choice test form and written test form in order to evaluate students objectively and correctly. Its weakness is to take time and much money in composing and marking because of its complexity. Based on what mentioned above, it is obvious that we should apply integrated test form in assessing and evaluating students at HUI because its assessed results of students is accurate, suitable and training effectiveness is certainly high.
